Two Philosophies

Wow. Read this post at Kallisti Press: RPGs, Pulleys, and Microwave Ovens (It has to do with theory, but if you are opposed or uninterested in Forge theory, you may still want to read it.)

It seems to me that this is a hugely significant idea. If the distinction it proposes is true, I’ll have to think about what I’m doing in a different light. It will also mean something for my metaphor:

I’m in some shack making coconut-banana ice-cream with a hand churn. I sell it in brown paper bags to people who eat and like it. Over the next hill are some other people. They don’t eat my stuff; they eat chocolate. But they don’t eat it plain. They have this enormous toppings bar, with about 2,000 items, and every bite they eat is covered with stuff. In fact, chocolate is more a vehicle for toppings than anything else. And maybe they ask, “Why are you worrying so much about the topping-holder? And where are all your toppings?”
